Travian: Shores of War ~ the Pathfinding

Travel and Change of Place Impart new Vigour to the Mind

– Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Welcome to the Shores of War!

In this Annual Special 2023 ~ Travian: Shores of War ~ you will have chance to become true discoverers and conquer the world of Ancient Europe on ships!

What’s new?

New building and a village type – Harbour!

Build Harbors and send ships to sea voyages through the map, explore new horizons and become the Greatest Marine Conqueror of the Ancient Europe!

You will be able to build Harbours in the villages that are located on the shores next to “Deep waters”. Harbours, in turn, will allow you to send tradeships and warships with increased speed when they travel through the Deep waters.

The map becomes “flat”

Travelling over the edge of the map is no longer possible. That means, no more short paths from let’s say Volubilis to Caledonia or from Olisipo to Tarsus through the edges. Those regions will no longer be counted as neighbouring and to reach them fast you will have to use ships.

New pathfinding algorithm for travelling across the deep waters.

Increased speed through the Deep waters – 30 fields per hour for x1 gameworld while travelling by ships.

What is “Deep waters”?

Deep waters are oceans, seas and great rivers (but not lakes) that repeat the real landscape of the Ancient Europe. Usual random lakes with oases are not “deep waters” and do not shorten travel times.

How is it calculated?

  • Speed is calculated for land and deep water movements separately.
  • Land movement is not altered, and while on land, all movement bonuses (hero items, tribe bonuses, artifacts) are still applying.
  • Deep water movement is a static 30 fields / hour for x1 speed gameworlds (60 for x2-x5, 120 for x10) and cannot be boosted.
  • To check if troops are faster with ships or by land, you must check the box in rally point and compare the times.
  • Ships cannot be affected by Hero items which affect troop movement speed.
  • Return time is the same as travel time to the target (except for the cases when hero holds the map).

Stay tuned and come back to us on July 7th for more information about Harbours!
