Welcome back to the Travian Loop series! In this edition, we have asked you, the Travian: Legends community, to share your thoughts on how to improve the experience for new players. Your feedback has been very valuable to us, and we have passed it on to the relevant teams to review. Below, you will find a breakdown of the key suggestions you provided, along with responses from our Senior Lead of Community Operations.
We will use the following emojis to differentiate between feedback points and responses:
💬 Feedback Point
✅ Response from our Senior Lead of Community Operations
Guides
💬 Translation of existing guides to local languages
Many players would like to see existing guides translated into more local languages.
✅ Response
This is great general feedback! We could start by fully localizing one guide and gauging its reception before moving forward with others.
💬 Discord channel for guides and tutorials
A request for a dedicated Discord channel that lists all the guides and tutorials in one place.
✅ Response
This is straightforward and easy to implement. We will make sure to add this soon!
💬 Promoting Discord as a resource hub
Some players feel we are not promoting Discord enough as a place where strategies and answers can be found.
✅ Response
We are curious to know if players were referring to chatting with each other, or a more formal promotion of resources? We would love more clarity on this suggestion to make the most of it.
💬 More social media events and videos
Players would like to see more frequent events and videos across social media platforms.
✅ Response
We will pass the request to the relevant teams. New videos are already in the works, so keep an eye out for that!
💬 Tribe-specific guides for beginners
There is feedback that we need specific guides for each tribe, as players do not always find the general ones helpful.
✅ Response
These guides already exist, but not many players are aware of them. We will work on making them more visible by re-advertising them and adding them to our upcoming Discord guide channel.
💬 Information overload for new players
New players are finding the amount of information overwhelming, especially from tutorials and in-game messages.
✅ Response
We propose creating a mentoring program on Discord where experienced players can guide newcomers. This might help without drowning players in information.
💬 “Beginner Start” vs. “Expert Start” options
Experienced players find it frustrating to click through initial tutorials and notifications. They suggest a setting that allows them to bypass this.
✅ Response
This is an interesting idea! We will forward it to the suggestion forum to see how the community feels about a “beginner” or “expert” start option.
💬 Improved tutorial with interactive elements
An expanded tutorial with animations and in-game campaigns to better guide new players through mechanics was suggested.
✅ Response
While it is a good idea, the game team is currently focused on other projects. It might not be something we can work on immediately, but we will keep it in mind for the future.
💬 Travian Dictionary
A dictionary that explains commonly used terms and abbreviations in Travian: Legends.
✅ Response
This is a fantastic idea! We already have a Travian Glossary Guide, you can find it on our blog! However, for within the game: we will consider this as a future feature.
💬 Featuring content creators on the official Travian YouTube channel
A suggestion was made to include high-quality videos from content creators on the official channel.
✅ Response
Absolutely! Creators can reach out to us via their Community Manager, and we will explore adding their content to our channel.
Mentor Program
💬 Mentor Badges and Roles
Many players would like to see a system that identifies experienced mentors, both in-game and on Discord, so new players know who to ask for help.
✅ Response
This is a fantastic idea and one of the best outcomes from the community. We will start working on this soon, after focusing on our Lobby System and the upcoming app. The community will be involved in shaping this concept!
Aggressive Start
💬 Warnings about the competitive nature of the game
New players should be informed that Travian is a war game, where they will likely be attacked early on. This might help them manage expectations and reduce frustration.
✅ Response
This is a solid point. We will sort through the suggestions related to this topic and encourage players to submit them to the feedback channels on Discord. Meanwhile, we will also work on creating guides and tips for beginners, which will be promoted through our own internal resources.
💬 Newbie Servers & PvE Servers
There has been interest in creating servers specifically for new players, or introducing PvE (Player vs. Environment) servers where beginners can learn the game by fighting computer-controlled enemies instead of experienced players. Many players believe extending the beginner protection period would help ease newcomers into the game. Another suggestion related to this topic was a reward system, such as giving gold or other bonuses, to players who complete tutorial servers.
✅ Response
It’s worth discussing in the community to see if others are interested. We will encourage players to post this idea on the suggestion forum as well.
Importance of Alliances
💬 Alliance Events
New players are more likely to stick with the game if they join an experienced alliance. There is a suggestion to host monthly events to connect alliances with new players.
✅ Response
We love this idea! A “speed dating” style event could be a fun and effective way to pair alliances with players. We would like to hear more feedback from the community on this.
That’s it for this version of our Travian-Loop! Thank you for your continued feedback and support in improving the starting experience for new players in Travian: Legends! Many of your suggestions are already being explored, and we encourage you to keep the ideas coming through the respective forum channels on Discord. We will continue to work on implementing the best solutions and will keep you updated as progress is made!
Stay tuned for the next feedback loop, and as always, good luck on the battlefield!
