Legends on Tour: Meet ELE

Our next guest is a well known Russian player on the COM domain. Active on both the RU and COM forums, they’re also a co-leader of the Alliance TM (Twelve Monkeys) which you might have encountered on our birthday special servers. Meet ELE, a Travian player of over 7 years and will be visiting us here at the Travian Games HQ for the Legends on Tour event!

For the readers who don’t know you, can you tell us a little bit about yourself, and for how long you’ve been playing Travian?

I live very fortunate life with happy family, have a meaningful career, many friends, and a few hobbies. I follow National Geographic on Instagram, my son wears a handmade scarf on the college campus, I know who Steve Hawking (R.I.P), Christian Louboutin or BillBelichik are as well as words bitcoin and bell curve and will be very curious as to how many of you went to Google after reading this random list. I like my nails done, Russian poetry, popular books about genetics and stand-up comedy. I go skiing and I bike, I hike and swim, travel than time allows, read and photograph. And I play Travian.

I have played Travian for about 7 years. My closest Travian family is the alliance TM (Twelve Monkeys), which plays exclusively on birthday servers and I have been honored to be a co-leader and defensive coordinator of this great group of people for the last 3 years. I started on .us domain, switched to .com after a couple of servers, and have called it home ever since. I have played for some well-known .com teams such as Golderod, SGR, PPG, GOAT, and CHAOS; ventured on Kingdoms alpha, and was a small particle of Dacia on Finals a couple of years ago. I’ve also enjoyed a few weeks with ЛОСИ on .ru and tried speed (comx) last year.  I started out playing as a Roman offensive player, but last year my duals convinced me to try defensive Gauls, and I love it. I have been blessed with awesome duals, sitters, and teammates through all those years. Meeting and interacting with people is the most enjoyable part of my Travian adventures.

What is it about Travian that has made it more than a game to you? What makes it so special?

Travian is a multi-player strategy game. The strategy part is very good – not too complicated but varied enough to keep your interest for a long time. I am sure, though, there are many games with a similar level of strategy and many multi-player games of various types, but Travian is unique. It’s a team game that lasts for months. This allows people to truly bond with complete strangers over time and creates a sense of camaraderie that makes me come back and play again and again.

What is one of your favorite memories playing Travian?

There’s nothing that brings more pleasure for me as a player than to mention in alliance chat: “Guys we got hit, need a garage for a few days while we rebuild”, – and get more offers than we need and see resources pouring to the capital before we even asked. As a leader, my biggest please is sending a crop support request for a walking hammer and getting a response in no time – “we are all set for the duration of the trip. Thank you all.”  Such examples make me believe I did something right, that I have THE team. I hear other leaders saying, “This is nothing fascinating; it is how it supposed to be, it’s called discipline,” but I like to think this is happening not only because we are a well-organized and disciplined squad, but also because we like each other, we care about each other, and we act as a team, not a group of mercenaries.

What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming Legends on Tour event?

It is not a secret that Travian’s prime has passed and the game is in decline. The game has matured, and so has the player base. At times it feels like TG isn’t really aware of this, but they seem to adapt well to these changes with other games just not with a signature piece that gave the name to the company. The game still has very strong, loyal, resourceful community, which is a larger force than they realize, and I hope TG sees the event the same way I do – the opportunity to close the gap between the game makers and the players.

Thank you for reading our interview with ELE, as much as we did. If you would like to ask her a question or contact her, you can send her a message on our forums.

Don’t forget to check out our blog for our next player interview tomorrow with slow ciliatus a Travian veteran and coordinator of the Russia team on the tournament 2017. See you then!
