Tea@Three – Martina

Questions:
Tell us your name / nickname and how old you are.
Name: Martina
Nickname: Pixelpuppe or simply Pixel
Age: erm… 29… for the 3rd time 🙂

What is your profession?
I’m a half-finished medical secretary, with half an IT degree, a helper syndrome and an obsession for perfection.
Well, that, or a front-end developer 😀

How long have you been working for Travian?
For more than 5 years!
Time goes by ever so quickly and the colleagues are getting more and more crazy!

What’s your job at Travian? (Or what have they told you?)
I’m able to really do what I love here. Break things and make them pretty again. And usually in that order, too.
Additionally, I’m a pixel maniac and can spend hours just moving them around. My unfortunate colleagues sometimes have to put up with situations like these:
“That’s gotta go up by 1 px.”
“Why? No one would notice!”
“Well I do!”
In this project, I’m also given the opportunity to make full use of the features of SASS and Compass – that, too, much to the chagrin of my colleagues.
And when I’m not trying to agonize my team, I try to look after them. That means helping them out of impossible situations, like ordering stationery or searching for a pair of scissors.

What’s your favorite genre and game?
Urgh… I hate this question!
There’s no single favorite game for me; there’s just too many good ones out there for that.
Some of them include Assassin’s Creed, Settlers, Silent Hill, Fallout, GTA… I could go on forever 🙂
I like to play all genres, with the exception of racing and sports games.

What was your first impression of online games?
I was excited right from the start; being able to play with or against my mates!
Then there also is the option to talk for example via Teamspeak – it’s perfect!
If you are then also kind of an extrovert and mobile, it’s a great possibility to meet new people (face to face) of course.

What is the biggest challenge in Travian for you?
Travian as a company?
It’s the games business! I would have never thought that I could master this challenge and get a job in it. But for whatever reason, just a couple of hours after my interview, I received a positive reply from Gerhard. Man, did I celebrate 🙂
Travian as a game?
Complexity is what I see as the biggest challenge here. There are so many strategies, so many possibilities and many strong opponents.
Travian as a team?
*hehe* I’m the only girl in the dev team. I prefer to “just” move pixels… It can really be a challenge to get my way – but actually, they are all really nice 😉

What would you do once you achieved world domination?
Mwuhahaha! I really hope this can be prevented 😛

What should be the next invention?
A time machine!
I’ve still got 80 unplayed Xbox 360 games in my cupboard; the number is continuously increasing and I’ve got no idea when to play them all!

Quick questions:
Tee or coffee? Coffeeeeee
Dogs or cats? Cats “
Pop or folk music? Pop
Mobile or board games? Board Games
Consoles or browsers? Console 😉

Shout-out:
No, my mug doesn’t say that Facebook is crap. But only divers will understand it 😀
